ISLAMABAD: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), during last five years, has earned Rs 4.4790 billion from all international airlines operating in Pakistan.
Documents available with Daily Times revealed that the Civil Aviation Authority took Rs 430.50 million from Cargo Lux Airlines, Luxemburg; whereas Cathay Pacific gave the runway rent charges and taxes of Rs 1.226 billion to CAA Pakistan. Similarly, Uzbekistan Airways paid the amount of Rs 460.42 million to the authority during last five years.
CAA took Rs 910.52 million from NAS Air, Rs 5.80 million from Tajik Airlines and Rs 1.19 billion from Lankan Airlines, while Malindo Airlines has deposited Rs 380.85 million in the accounts of CAA from 2011 till now.
CAA also earned revenue of Rs 4.28 million from Somon Air and Rs 40.52 million from Taban Airlines. Safi Air gave Rs 110.96 million to CAA in the last five years.
Civil Aviation Authority earned the revenue of Rs 640.69 million in Financial Year 2011-12, Rs 1.136 billion in FY13, Rs 850.25 million in FY14, Rs 970.89 million in FY15, whereas Rs 860.39 million in the current financial year.
Cargo Lux Airlines, Luxemburg started its operation from Pakistan on May 4, 2015. Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong commenced its flights on June 29, 2014 in the country. Similarly, Biman Airlines of Bangladesh commenced its services from Pakistan on February 11, 2012.
At least six foreign and two national airlines suspended their flights while five foreign airlines launched their operations from Pakistan during the last five years, whereas Bhoja Airline, a local airline, re-launched its operation.
Uzbekistan Airways began its flight operation in Pakistan on October 23, 2013. FlyNAS Air of Saudi Arabia started its flight on November 9, 2014. Likewise, Tajik Air of Tajikistan has started its journey from Pakistan on July 16, 2012. Air Indus started its operation on June 30, 2015. Bhoja Air on May 28, 2012, Sri Lankan Air Lines on November 17, 2014, Malindo Airlines of Malaysia on February 25, 2014, and Somon Air of Tajikistan on May 7, 2016. Taban Airlines of Iran came to Pakistan on April 4, 2015, while Safi Air of Afghanistan started its flights from Pakistan on October 1, 2013.
