WASHINGTON: US State Department spokesperson John Kirby said on Thursday that Pakistan and India would have to sort out their issues through dialogue.
“Both Pakistan and India will have to resolve their problems through talk. Better ties between the two countries will ensure betterment in the region. Better relations will help address the problems,” he said while briefing the media.
He said that Pakistan would have to do more to weed out terrorism.
“Pakistan has given unprecedented sacrifices in the war on terrorism. Still safe havens of terrorists exist therein and Pakistan will have to take more action against them,” he said.
He said that three out of the five Pakistanis at Guantanamo prison had been given the opportunity to appear before a review board. “US stands by its decision to shut Guantanamo prison facility, but US security is our first priority,” he said.
