PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that the government is striving hard to meet the target of 100 per cent literacy rate in the Federal Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
“We are heading towards path of peace, progress and development due to efforts of the government,” he said, adding that energy crisis especially electricity load shedding will end by 2018. “We will have surplus energy,” he said while addressing as the chief guest at the annual day ceremony of the Latif Foundation School in Rawat.
Governor Jhagra said that education was imperative for the progress of any society and illiterate nations could never be able to hold any significant place in the world. On this occasion, school principal Najam Khan presented the annual progress report and also highlighted curricular and extra-curricular activities of the school in detail.
The governor also witnessed the display of co-curricular activities and distributed awards among the position holders and best teachers. Besides Senator Salim Zia, Latif Foundation Chairman Ishtiaq Latif and Ilyas Latif, the ceremony was largely attended by scores of students and their parents.
On the occasion, the governor also announced 0.5 million rupees grant to the Latif Foundation and Rs 5,000 each to the students getting top positions in their annual exams.
